Underground storage tank removal is a meticulous process.

Underground storage tanks are subject to degradation over time, which may cause leakage. A leaking underground oil tank needs to be removed immediately. But even if your underground oil tank is still sound, it may be necessary to remove it to make your home ready for sale, since many New Jersey real estate attorneys and mortgage companies won’t approve a sale with an underground oil tank in place.

Underground storage tank removal is a meticulous process and you can count on Tank Solutions to do it properly, quickly, and cleanly. We specialize in residential underground storage tank removals as well as site remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater.

The Underground Oil Tank Removal Process

  • » Step 1 Contract

Sign an underground storage tank removal contract with Tank Solutions submitting a small deposit.

  • » Step 2 Permits

Tank Solutions will fill out and file all paperwork related to the issuance of proper permits with the town.

  • » Step 3 Site Overview

A technician from Tank Solutions will come to your site to take pictures, take measurements and determine the amount of oil in your tank.

  • » Step 4 Site Work Completed

The tank will be uncovered with a mini excavator. The tank will then be cut and liquids will be removed. Then a technician will then enter your tank and hand wipe the inside completely dry. The tank and associated piping will then be removed from the ground and placed on plastic. After this has been done, the township official will conduct his inspection. After the local inspector has approved the job, the open excavation site will be filled with clean fill. The site is then graded and, if appropriate, grass seed and hay are applied. The tank will be taken off the premises and delivered to a local scrap metal yard.

  • » Step 5 Payment

Tank Solutions will be paid in full upon completion of our site work.

  • » Step 6 Paperwork

All proper paperwork and documentation will be sent to the town to close out the permits.

  • » Step 7 Certificate

A certificate will be issued by Tank Solutions for your records.
